ABORIGINAL CORPORATION
Blak Markets is back live on Bare Island on Saturday 13 November 2021 kicking off at 11.30am and running through till 5.00pm.
CEO, Peter Cooley, said "We're so happy to be back and be able to meet our community of Blak Markets stallholders, visitors, and entertainers who make up the Blak Markets family.” Peter said.
"We're really proud that the Blak Markets have proved to be a big success for both visitors to the Markets and our stallholders over such a long period. La Perouse has a long history of being an Aboriginal Destination in Sydney and we are rekindling the fires that were lit by the original Aboriginal Families that used to make and sell their Cultural wares along the La Perouse loop".
The Blak Markets is a great chance to buy authentic and unique gifts knowing that 100% of the profits are going back into Aboriginal communities. This Blak markets features Aboriginal stallholders selling Arts, Crafts and bushfoods including Native Plants, award winning Jewellery and Pure Silk Scarves.
The Blak Markets will kick off Saturday afternoon with a welcome to country and performances by Marcus Corowa and Traditional Aboriginal Cultural group Milan Dhiiyaan. We will have a bushfood cooking demonstration by Indigenous Executive Chef, Matthew Atkins, of Plate Events, who will profile some of the amazing native ingredients developed by First Nations Businesses around Australia along with bushfood talks with IndigiGrow.
The Blak Markets are conducted in partnership with Randwick City Council and are held in Kamay-Botany Bay National Park and supported by Suncorp..
